Mobile operator “Bakcell Ltd” LLC successfully continues to change and develop the possibilities of mobile communication in Azerbaijan and abroad.
On the 14th November 2006, Bakcell made progress in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. The event was dedicated to the launch of commercial mobile services in the republic and the opening of the new service centre in Nakhichevan city.
     Representatives of the leading TV channels and other mass media took part in the event. The official part of the opening began by the cutting of the ribbon. The Head of Supreme Mejlis of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Mr. Vasif Talibov was one of the honorary guests and he gave his blessings to the new centre.
During the opening, Mr. Martin Quirke said the following:
“I would like to offer my congratulations to all of you on the opening of Bakcell's Service Center in Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic.
Nakhichevan has existed in a blockade for more than 15 years. During this period thanks to the policy of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and his successor Ilham Aliyev many improvements have been made.
Improving Telecommunications and Information Technologies to, from, and within the region have been made a priority.
In addition, the works done under the supervision of the Head of Supreme Mejlis of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Mr. Vasif Talibov, have enabled the progressive improvements in Telecoms and IT in this territory.
Understandably Bakcell wants to be a part of the region's development and so we have decided to open our first regional office here in Nakhichevan.
We believe that this day is a significant milestone for Bakcell.
During the last few months we have activated up to 20 base stations in this territory to achieve approximately 80% coverage - and there is more network improvement and coverage planned in the near future to make the service better!!!
Regarding the Sales Network we have 1 Distributor, 10 dealers, and 200 points of sale.
We stand in front of our service center that is fully equipped with 6 service desks and waiting room with comfortable modern conditions.
This Center is capable of serving 500 clients a day with a complete, high quality service”.
Regarding the future plans Mr. Quirke said that in the near future Bakcell will increase two times the number of base stations in Nakichevan. It means that all the territory of the Autonomous Republic will be covered by Bakcell services.  In addition, the number of sales points and dealers will be increased two times in 6 months. The next regional service centers will be opened in Ganja, Sumgait, then Sheki-Zagatala and Lenkoran-Astara regions.
