Mr. Richard Shearer

Mr. Richard Shearer was appointed the CEO of Bakcell in April 2011. He has held several leadership positions at major telecommunications companies prior to joining Bakcell.

Richard Shearer has broad international experience spanning the USA, Asia and Europe. His experience has mainly focused on provision of telecommunications services in the wireless segment in some of the world’s most competitive markets. He started his career at Cable & Wireless, UK. Between 1990-1997, Shearer worked at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting (PWC) where he performed various international assignments. In 1997, he became the CEO of DiGiTelecom in Malaysia and worked there until 2000. From 2000 to 2001 he served as Chief Commercial Officer of T-Mobile in UK. Later he joined Empower Interactive Group Ltd as the CEO and led the company until 2004. Between 2005-2008 he was the CEO of BTC Mobile EOOD (Vivatel) in Bulgaria.

Prior to joining Bakcell in 2011, Mr. Shearer served as the Management Board Member for the Consumer Segment in TPSA/Orange, which is the leading mobile operator and Incumbent Telco, new TV Service Provider in Poland. 

Mr. Shearer is the member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He holds a B.A. degree in Accounting and Finance.
