Bakcell is the first company to provide mobile communications services in Azerbaijan.

  • 1994 – Established as a Joint Venture between GTIB and the Ministry of Communication of the Azerbaijan Republic and started operations as an Analogue (ETACS) System Operator
  • 1996 – Started providing mobile telecommunications services.
  • 1999 – Roaming services for subscribers were launched;
  • 2003 – Company's privatization process was successfully completed and Bakcell became a company with 100% private capital

  • 2014 – Joined the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) system and became the leader in port–in subscribers.

  • 2015 – Commercially launched its 4G LTE service for the first time in Azerbaijan

  • 2016 – Bakcell becomes an official sponsor of the “UEFA European U–17 Championship Azerbaijan 2016”
  • 2017 – Launched a new brand identity – “See What Is Possible”
  • 2017 – Contributed to the restoration process of Jojug Marjanli village (Jabrail region) liberated from occupation. As a part of the support Bakcell optimized its mobile communications network at the village.
  • 2017 – Demonstrated 5G readiness and record–breaking speed of up to 1 Gbps with 4.5 G Pro for the first time in Azerbaijan
  • 2017 – Bakcell launches 4G LTE service in Ganja thus starting expansion of 4G to regions of the country
