Bakcell officially launches its CSR program: Every child is a star!
23.07.2009
Bakcell, one of the leading mobile operators in Azerbaijan, officially launched its new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. Bakcell’s CSR activities are focused on helping disadvantaged children, so Bakcell supports charities and projects that help Children in Need.
To mark the launch of its CSR Program Bakcell signed a cooperation agreement with one of the well-known and successful charities – SOS Children’s Villages Azerbaijan. The signing ceremony took part in SOS Children’s Village, Baku. The CEO of Bakcell, Ms. Ineke Botter, said: “We have a thought-out CSR strategy, rather than random charity projects. We believe that children are our future. That is why Bakcell will focus on helping disadvantaged children realize their true potential and talents’. Ms Botter also unveiled the logo of Bakcell’s CSR Program and its official name – Backcell Stars.
Bakcell will organize educational activities for the children in the SOS village. Namely Bakcell will arrange and finance singing lessons to the SOS Children. The choir is expected to perform at one of Bakcell’s CSR events to take place later in the year.
The head of SOS Children’s Villages Azerbaijan Fargana Mammadova said “she was happy that her charity’s work is in tune with Bakcell’s CSR philosophy’. She also said she knew from her colleagues overseas that Ms Ineke Botter has supported SOS Children’s Villages in another part of the world and was a friend of her charity. During the ceremony children from SOS Village Baku performed national dances and recited poems. Ms Ineke Botter also visited one of the families in the SOS Village where she talked to children and their foster-parents.
